Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Have A Wonderful Break!

Since it was a bit rainy this morning, we decided it was time to open up the tool bench. We found that there was quite a bit of assembly required, so we got right to it.

Friends had to use all kinds of muscles and tools to put all of the bits together, while Carol worked hard not to have an "Ikea Moment." Lots of the pieces were in constant motion, as friends found novel uses for them. We laughed a lot, and it took quite some, but we finally had a tool bench.

Meanwhile, some friends set up shop, while others spent some quality time with Nellie and Princess Froggy.

At snack time, Carol showed the Little Frogs some of the fruit that she ate a lot of in Cuba. Everyone guessed what it was and what color it would be when we cut it open. Everyone tried it, and most friends decided that they loved mango. Then we cut up the pineapple (the way they serve it in Cuba), and we talked about the way it grows. The pineapple was even more popular.

We had Morning Meeting and read, Silly Sally, about a woman who walked to town backwards and upside down. Then, some friends worked on their art projects, while others headed outside.

On the playground, we did some repairs to our stick house and then headed off to the Puddle Tree, to see how many puddles it held today.

We stopped for a bit to climb the rock pile before heading back for lunch. We got to talk a bit about what we would do over break (friends are wanting to draw many pictures), and we discussed how much we would miss each other. As usual, Danielle and I asked them NOT to eat any growing food. They all swear they are going to be MUCH bigger when they get back.

BYE LITTLE FROGS!
HAVE FUN, WE WILL MISS YOU!

Mostly Secret Stuff

This morning was a very cultured affair. We made art - some two dimensional, some three dimensional and some musical.

We put on some Cuban music, got out our new instruments and played and danced.

At Morning Meeting, we had our Moment of Silence laying down, so that we could breathe with our bellies going up and down. It was a little hard not to be giggly.

Then, we made secret plans. Unfortunately, the rest of the day the camera was in use taking pictures that you can't see (yet). Suffice it to say that there is a very fancy Art Opening coming up in April...

Our Color Purple

This morning was filled with hugs as Carol greeted her much-missed Little Frogs. Friends also spent some quality time with Nellie and Princess Froggy.

Carol brought back some new instruments from Cuba, so there was new music in the room.

Then it was time for Movement with Missy. After some stretching and Hokey-Pokeying, we played "Rocks, Trees and Birds." Friends particularly enjoy jumping over and crawling under their rock and tree friends.

Next, Missy got out the parachute. We had a Merry-Go-Round, a popcorn machine and then a picnic.

We had our snack outside and some time to get some grocery shopping and hoop throwing done.

A restaurant also opened up, which specialized in "Ice Cream Hot Dog Sandwiches."

Then we headed over to the Grove for our Morning Meeting. Carol had been gone so long that she thought we were suppose to have a "Moment of Noisiness." Fortunately, friends reminded her about how it was suppose to be done.

Then we read a book called, Whoever We Are, about how children are different and the same, all over the world. Carol told friends some of the ways life was different in Cuba. Then, she gave each of the Little Frogs a piece of coral from the beach at Valdedaro.

We discovered that coral is very fun to balance on your head.

We went in to get our giant canvas for the art show, so that we could work on the background. Carol was very happy to learn that the Frogs had discovered many things about our color - purple - while she was away. They not only had found many purple things, but had also learned how to make different shades of purple.

So we headed back out to the grove, and took turns playing monsters in the Deep Dark Forest, and painting with our hands. We mixed up three shades of purple, and covered our canvas with it, to create our painting's background.

It was a lot of messy, beautiful fun...what we do with it next will be a surprise!
