Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

A Jumpin' Monday

Today began with a new bean bag chair, in what is now our "Jumping Around Area." We've put lots of pillows and padding to give our friends  safe place to wiggle and jump (as Frogs often want to do).

The Turtles came up to see our new area, but they were more interested in dramatic play, and quite a few Frogs joined them.

Movement class brought more stretching and jumping, as friends went through a cone and "river" jumping obstacle course. Missy also brought one of our favorites - balloons.

After, we gather for stamps at the table.

At Morning Meeting, some friends were very proud of their new found ability to maintain a moment of silence.

We read a new book   -  The Witch and The Magic Stick. This was one of the books that our friend Gwen, the librarian got for us when we asked her for stick books. This one got mixed reviews: 7 thumbs up and 3 thumbs down (there were some slightly scary parts that some friends didn't enjoy - like turning people into pigs and ham sandwiches.)

At Snack time we alo had an easel demonstration, mostly about ways to use a paintbrush.

Outside, friends brought out the sticks they had chosen for closer examination. We measured our sticks using the counting blocks, looked at them closely and then hammered them to see what would happen. Many friend were surprised that the hammer seemed to loosen the bark.

Then, to everyone's excitement, we cut our sticks using a saw and a miter box. The Frogs were fascinated by this tool and how smooth;y it cut most of their sticks. We are going to use the pieces in an upcoming project.

We had our Storytime outside with another book from Gwen: The Magic Hockey Stick. Then it was time for our goodbye song and to head in for lunch. At lunch, we are beginning to tell stories - either things that have actually happened to us, or ones that we make up. Its a developing skill, that is taking us a step beyond knock-knock jokes.
