Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Little Explorers Find Adventures

The Little Frogs came in the room with very curious minds today. Immediately, they began to notice some different things around the room. They looked at new pictures, puzzles that were out and some things that had gone up on the bulletin board. Then, they discovered the tape! Then they were off discovering the many things you can do with tape.

Tape pictures were made, things were taped together, looooong pieces of tape were stretched across the room, and tape "leashes" were put on pretend puppies. Many of the friends got out scissors and helped each other cut different colors and sizes of tape.

Then, our friends the Turtles showed up and invited us to come and watch their "Clean Up Show!" They even brought us tickets. So, we each took a ticket and went down to the Turtle Room.

We watched them clean up their room at amazing speed, although I must say the Little Frogs were not as impressed as we'd hoped.

After Morning Meeting, we went to check the weather and discovered that it had stopped raining. So we donned our boots and raincoats and headed out in search of puddles.

At first, we could only find tiny ones.

We stopped to hide behind a tree to jump out and surprise Danielle, which was hysterically funny!

Then, some of the Frogs wanted to go back to the tennis courts, and they were fairly certain that they knew how to get there, so they led the way.

Friends helped Danielle figure out how to open the gate. All of the Frogs are learning how to use their words to be helpful to their friends.

We stopped to wave at some big kids.

We found some new places to hide and climb.

Then we discovered the Lower School library. It was filled with LOTS of books and an aquarium that had no fish (we will ask our friend Gwen, the librarian, about this when we see her). We read a book fresh from the shelf, and then headed back out.

Our last stop was the Pre-K/Kindergarten playground, where we got to try out a whole bunch of new playground toys with some of the Pre-K kids.

When we got back, we peeled off our wets boots and coats, and settled in for a well-deserved lunch.

Monday, Monday

As our day began, the Little Frogs opened the kitchen/restaurant/cookout area and began serving a variety of foods. Our friends are hard at work figuring how to negotiate and play cooperatively - and this is most evident as they manage using the same space and toys. This is perhaps the hardest task when you are two or three year old (and sometimes when you are a twenty or thirty year old), and the Frog teachers are often helping kids find the words they need to express their thoughts and feelings.

Our discussion about spiders also continued, as we tried to figure out what a spider eats. We used the computer to answer this question, and also to print out a spider picture, so that we could count it's legs.

The Frogs also took a closer look at some of the leaves we brought in from outside. We noticed that many of them crumbled into tiny pieces when we smooshed them, and that others only bent.

We also had our first Movement class today with Missy. We went over to the John Barnes room (in the meetinghouse), and Missy showed us some dances and stretches.

We also got to pick instruments and march and play to the music.

By far our favorite activity in Movement class today was when Missy put the bubble wand in front of the fan and we all got to chase them and pop them!

We cooled down with a few more stretches, and then Missy gave us stamps on our arms.

Outside, we did some drumming on the benches, and then headed inside for morning meeting and snack.

Then we headed off on a spider hunt. If anyone found a web or a spider, they were to shout, "SPIDER-IDER-IDER!!!" We found one on the gate, and then one way up high on the birdhouse.

On our way to find the spiders, we also found some other great places. We crossed a bridge over the creek, where we stopped to fish with some sticks we found. Then we discovered a big garden, that still had tomatoes and peppers and eggplants and squash. We discovered some wheat growing, and wondered about how wheat turns into bread. We have lots and lots of questions, and are just beginning to figure out how to find the answers.

DON'T FORGET, TOMORROW NIGHT IS BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!
