The Benefits of Risk in Children's Play
This is worth viewing, and thinking about.
Welcome to the Little Frog Families!
This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Ice Balls!
Our rainy day began with art and sand. We also took some time to check in on our ants, who have made a few new tunnels and seem to have recovered from their traumatic move yesterday.
There were also some amazing new structures being built in Frog teams and groups!
At Morning Meeting, we read a very tiny book called, Tall. Friends were able to read most this book, because it only has a few words that rhyme. So, they would look at the pictures, figure out what was going on, and then figure out what the word was (sometimes Carol would give them the sound of the first letter). They were very excited to realize that they can read!
At Choice Time, the most popular choice were the Ice Balls! These were literally balls of ice each with a surprise frozen inside each one. Friends put on their safety goggles and took hammers and CRACKED the ice!
Others took some time to compose some tunes on our new keyboard.
Friends tried some different tactics to get the treasures out. While they worked with their ice balls, we wrote down their observations about ice in our Notebook.
Then we headed out into the rain. We checked for puddles, and counted how many there were on the puddle tree.
We spotted some new flowers.
We found a monster!
We stopped to talk to our friend, Justin. He teaches math in the middle school. His students were doing a worksheet, and we helped them get the answer to #33.
We gave the camera to friends, to take pictures of interesting things we found.
This is how some of the pictures on the wall look, when you are a Little Frog.
We visited our art. On our way back, we met up with our favorite truck driver, who brings food to the cafeteria. He honked the horn for us and we headed back for lunch.
Ant Farm!
This morning the Little Frogs learned that their ants had finally arrived!
The Little Frogs observed the way the ants moved around in the container. They also noticed that they began to dig tunnels!
After lots of teamwork from Carol and Danielle, they managed to get all the ants into the Ant Farm.
After our Ant Farm was complete we headed of to Movement Class with Missy!
At Movement the Little Frogs stretched, jogged, danced and bopped till they dropped!
We then had a fun game of kickball! The Little Frogs are very good at kicking the ball then running the bases!
Next, we helped Missy set up an obstacle course for us to run and jump through.
Friends got to place the hula hoops where they wanted, which they had to hop in and out of, and orange cones, which they had to jump over!
Some friends did back rolls on the mat!
After our obstacle course we got to play with the hoops and cones! Missy even surprised us with a bubble machine! We had so much fun jumping and popping all the bubbles!
We popped so many bubbles that we needed to lay down and rest for a bit!
We finished Movement class by getting a peace sign stamp from Missy!
On our way back to the classroom we noticed that there was saw dust under the bench. Carol explained to us that there must have been a carpenter bee drilling a hole. The Little Frogs got down on their hands and knees and found the hole!
We headed to the playground to run around, slide, bike, swing and play in the sandbox before it started to rain.
Friends also got to see the snack delivery man and his big truck! Friends helped the man bring our snacks up to the door which was so friendish of them!
We also found a millipede on the stumps on the playground.
After we ate snack outside we headed in for Morning Meeting and our Moment of Silence.
Carol then read us the book called, Click, Clack, Moo Cows that Type. Friends thought this book was very funny especially the part where the ducks take the typewriter and ask for a diving board!
To finish off the Morning we had Choice Time. Friends were able to chose between the Keyboard, Puzzles, Flubber, Blocks and Books.
