Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Choice Time

This morning the puppets came out to play once more. Oftentimes, they let the Little Frogs figure things out - like how to have arguments or share things or wrestle - in ways that are easier to manage.

There were also dinosaurs loose in the sandbox!

At Morning Meeting, we started off with a few riddles (the next level up on the humor pyramid). The Little Frogs are not quite there, but we laughed anyways.

After our Moment of Silence, we introduced the idea of a more "formal" Choice Time. This encourages friends to think about what they want to do and make decisions in a more conscious way. It also encourages literacy - each set of words has a specific meaning and there is an increasing association between the written words and the choices they represent.

Many friends were able to "translate" the pictures into the words, and they decide what they wanted to do. They also began to move their names when they went from one activity to the next.

Color mixing with shaving cream was  very popular choice.

For the first time, snack was also a choice, so that the Little Frogs were able to go to the snack table when they were ready. Many of our friends were very proud of being able to pour their own milk or water.

Books are always an available choice, and the Little Frogs enjoy paging through some of their favorites. They can often be found in the Cozy Box or on the rocker, reading to themselves or their friends.

Outside, there was time for plenty of fun and some new gross motor challenges. An obstacle course was set up, and the Frogs enjoyed testing their skills.
