Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Just Another Manic Monday!

The Little Frogs are trying to make some sprouts out of mung beans. Today, we went on the Internet to find instructions about how to do it. Step 1 was to soak the beans in a jar for 8 hours. Friends helped clean the jar, fill it with water and pour in the beans.

The Little Frogs are practicing their fine motor skills by drilling holes into a branch. Then, we are using wire and threading beads onto it and attaching it to the branch. When it is all finished we will hang it up in our window for decoration.

Since today is Monday, we had Movement with Missy. We were able to run, jump, dance, and spin! We had so much fun! Missy set up an obstacle course for us where we had to jump in and out of hula hoops, crawl through a tunnel and walk across a balance beam.

When we got back to the Little Frogs room we had our Moment of Silence and our Morning Meeting. During Morning Meeting we examined our mung beans and discussed what they may look like when they start to grow.

We have been talking a great deal about our bodies and our faces - particularly how our faces look when we are feeling in different moods. We have begun to draw our faces using table mirrors, studying our features and expressions. Today, we brought a big container of markers to Morning Meeting that are all different shades of brown and pink and tan, and we discussed how we all have different skin colors. We then looked through our box of markers to see if we could find a marker that matched each of us. Once we found our marker, we colored on a big sheet of paper and wrote our names next to it. This will become a part of our self portrait project.

If you noticed that your Little Frog is not so little anymore it is because we have been eating a lot of growing food!

We also brought out the power tools, and began drilling our sticks to make beaded mobiles. Using the drill helps friends to strengthen their grips, while drilling a hole all the way through the stick is just a wonderment.

We read a story called Bean and Plant, that showed how beans grow, and talked about what to expect with our beans. Then we read a book called Leaf Man, about a man made of leaves, blowing around and coming across other creatures made of leaves. Friends enjoyed finding the "hidden" images.

At lunch, we talked about the next steps for our mung beans, with many friends contributing ideas. Then, before nap time, we had a dance party!
