Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Working on Being Friend-ish

Yesterday we read the story of The Little Gingerbread Boy and we loved it! So we started off our morning with one of our new favorite stories! The great thing about this story is that we are learning the words which makes it fun because everyone can read it together!

While others were reading some of us choose to play in the leaf table, as well as paint.

Today we had music with Jenny. We learned a song about going to the Aquarium and all the fish that live there. We really enjoyed this song because Jenny had puppets that went along with the song!

We went back to our classroom where we had Morning Meeting and our Moment of Silence. We decided that it might be fun to read our book while we ate our snack. So Carol read us a book called Ten on a Sled.

After snack we went on another adventure. We found a tree that had puddles around it and sticks that were stuck in the ground.

We split up into two teams and quickly raced through the other building to see whose team could go faster. When we finally meet up with one another and caught our breath we went to the Lower School Playground. This playground is not only fun for us but challenging because it is meant for the five year olds.

We were able to practice our gross motor skills here by climbing, digging, sliding and building with the big blocks.

Most of our friends are now able to climb on the climber all by themselves!

We ended our adventure at one of our favorite spots, THE ROCK PILE!

The Little Frogs are working really hard on learning to play with one another. But since all of us have ideas that we think are really fun, we tend to disagree. So we had a discussion at lunch about what we could do to help solve some of these problems, since we love playing together. Some of our suggestions were to say "No Thank You"or "Stop", when friends are being unkind or rough. Others were to give hugs and kisses while some were to just take turns and share. Next week we are going to practice some of our great ideas to see what may work best!

A Day for Figuring Things Out

There were a few new surprises to be found around the room this morning. Our bird's nest had some eggs in it and friends told stories about what might happen.

Another item left the Frogs guessing: A clock? A timer? It moved when you put things on top of it, so a number of friends began to experiment with different objects - doing their own scientific investigation.

There were lots of phone calls in the room today - many friends were on the phone with parents, talking about their day.

The Little Frogs continued their study of faces, as we continue to consider different look for our pillow person. We are interested in thinking about what makes a face look happy, sad, scared, mad and afraid.

Outside, friends had many discussions, debates and arguments about how to play together. For some reason, it was not a day for compromise, so friends needed an extra large amount of help in settling disputes and voicing their feelings and opinions.

At the same time, Little Frogs are beginning to play cooperatively in larger groups - so the demands for working out ways to play together are becoming more complicated.

Back inside, Danielle read, The Gingerbread Boy, and some friends were surprised when he got eaten by the fox at the end. The story got mostly thumbs up and a few "sorta liked it's" (thumbs sideways).
