Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Making Bread, Making Friends

This morning, there was all manner of things to be fixed.

Buses to be gassed up and screws to be taken out. Little Frogs are very fond of all manner of tools.

Then we got out some baking tools to make some banana bread.

This involved a great deal of mashing and smashing.

When we were done it was time for Morning Meeting. We had another lovely Moment of Silence, and the Little Frogs take pride in being able to still their bodies.

Then, because friends have started to use the big blocks more in our newly expanded block area, we had a safety meeting. Hoppity joined us as we tried to figure out what made some building steady and some wobbly. Hoppity "volunteered" to test our structures and ended up falling down several times.

Then we headed outside for our first really chilly playground day (if you haven't already done so, please make sure that your child has a hat and mittens with their names in them, and weather-appropriate changes of clothing).

The Frogs played a game of Pile Up on the slides and could not stop laughing.

Then we went for a walkabout in the cemetery and discovered all kinds of changes in the trees. Tiny pine cones had opened up and there were leaves to make leaf angels in.

When we got back inside, we made a Rocket Ship Fort with our tables and a sheet. Laughter continued.

Little Frog friendships are developing nicely, as Frog's are figuring out what it means to be "friendish," (a phrase we use whenever someone demonstrates that they are thinking about someone else's feelings).

After everyone had finished their lunches and after lunch jobs, Princess Froggy came out for a visit. This is always a happiness.

New Spaces for New Adventures

Track was laid out agin today, for a long run.

There was letter writing with sticks,

drawing,

and puppets.

Then, because photos were being taken in the John Barnes room, we had music in our classroom.

Jenny brought her guitar and her drum and her tamborine.

We sang and danced and clapped and played the rythm sticks.

Then we had Morning Meeting. For the first time, we brought in our stick suggestion box, and it had a bunch of ideas in it. We are going to test some of them out and see about adding them to our book.

At Snack, we discussed rearranging our room and talked about what friend would like to have in it. One friend suggested an ice skating rink, so we got an ice cube to test whether or not it would be cold enough for ice skating in our room. It melted.

We decided to change the block area and make it bigger, but first we had to move out the rug. It was heavy, and friends spent quite a while trying to figure out how to get it out of there. Rolled up, it was also just fun to play on. We finally got it out of there, with some impressive teamwork.

Then we moved some heavy shelves and put down a new puzzle floor.

Then it was time to go and have our pictures taken. We cheered each other on and practiced smiling while we waited. We could nor wait to get to the playground for some well-deserved running around.
