Welcome to the Little Frog Families!

This is the site of our Daily Frog Blog, and one of the ways you can keep up with all the exciting goings on in the Little Frog's classroom. Every day, we will post news about our activities, reflections about the things we are learning, and lots of pictures (and sometimes even mini-movies). On the right side of the blogs is a link called, "Follow by email." If you sign up for this, the blog will be sent directly to your inbox. We encourage you to invite extended family members and interested friends to follow our blog, too.

Taking Care

We spent some time this morning taking care of our favorite furry friends. We cleaned out their cage and then took turns giving them some TLC.

We got some new sunglasses.

Then we headed off to Movement class, where we stretched, ran, played catch and worked on our t-ball.

Back in Froggyland, we had snack, then gathered for Morning Meeting. While we were waiting for friends to settle in, we told a round robin story that involved to bees, named Floor and Mason, and a car-driving horse named Kevin. I won't tell you the whole story, but I will tell you that Kevin's driving skills left something to be desired!

After our Moment of Silence and Moment of Loudness, Danielle read us a new book called, An Alligator Lives in Benjamin's House. We got to make lots of animal sounds and were amazed at how many animals Benjamin had. At Choice Time, friends could pick between the sandbox, books, the Store and musical instruments. Lots of friends rocked out with the musical instruments, as we took turns counting off (then we tried to figure out why musicians count off).

Then, we headed outside fo a few minutes on the playground before heading out on an adventure. We set off to find the school store, so we could get some ideas for our own store. However, on the way...

...we stopped to fish in the creek, and discovered something new there - Green Slimy stuff! We investigated, but we are not sure what it is or how it got there.

So we headed on our way. Until we got to...

..the Big Kids' playground. This ended up being a major detour, as friends were very invested in testing their skills on this tricky equipment. Balancing on the Jiggly Bridge was popular, as was trying to figure out how to get up on the high platforms. Climbing up and down the ladders was another challenge, and some friends even tried pulling themselves across the monkey bars.

By the time we had tried everything, we realized that we had completely forgotten about the store, and we were out of time! After a brief stop to climb on our rock pile, we headed back for lunch, with lots of stories of our weekends and a new round of knock-knock jokes.

A Special Guest

Today we welcomed a special guest to Little Frog Land - Alexander's grandmother, Laura, came to spend the morning with us! Not long after she arrived, friends discovered that she had brought a ball of yarn with her - they were intrigued. Before we knew it, friends were bringing animals over to have make collars and leashes. Other friends played with the tools, opened the store and built with our new blocks.

After a weather check (where we were chased all over the place by a variety of wild animals and blown about by a tornado), we came in for snack. We decided to test out whether our bean sprouts were ready. We decided that they were and, despite our efforts to stop them, many friends gobbled up this growing food!

Then we sang and danced to a new favorite sang, My Name is Joe, and it was time for Morning Meeting. After our Moment of Loudness AND our Moment of Silence, Grandma Laura shared a story with us about How the Robin got it's Redbreast. The Little Frogs were enthralled.

At Choice Time, all of the Frogs spent time either painting backgrounds with watercolors and big textured brushes, or making macaroons with Laura. Everybody got a turn at both things.

Before we knew it, it was time to head outside. Some friends wanted to keep playing store, so we moved our store outside.

Then, as promised, Carol brought her scooter into the playground, put it up on it's steady kickstand, and let friends take turns "driving" it - they all had to put their helmets on first!

When we got back inside, it was time to dip our macaroons in chocolate! We especially enjoyed liking our fingers off after.

Danielle read us a new book, If You Give a Pig a Party, which many friends liked. It is interesting to note that many of the Little Frogs are getting very descriptive when they talk about parts of books that they like and don't like, as they are taking in more of the subtleties of the stories.

After we sat down to lunch, Laura came back with our chilled macaroons, and put one by every one's plate, to save for dessert. Then it was time to say goodbye to her and Alexander, but we hope she comes to visit us again!
